This week Dr. Dan and I are discussing the topic of protein, and the proper amount to consume based on your own body weight.
The RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) suggests that a healthy adult male should have 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of lean body weight.
While, some studies have suggested that for an active adult male 1.2 – 1.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body mass is allowable per day based on activity level.
Bodybuilders over the years have highly recommended 1 gram of protein per body pound per day.
To use protein efficiently, it’s recommended that the average healthy adult to consume 20-40 grams of protein per meal.
